Yoreh Deah Siman 18 Seif 15

 

טו הַשּׁוֹחֵט בְּסַכִּין בְּדוּקָה וְאַחַר הַשְּׁחִיטָה שִׁבֵּר בָּהּ עֲצָמוֹת דֶּרֶךְ שְׁבִירָה, שֶׁלֹּא בְּדֶרֶךְ הוֹלָכָה וַהֲבָאָה, וּבְדָקָהּ וְנִמְצֵאת פְּגוּמָה, שְׁחִיטָתוֹ כְּשֵׁרָה דְּאָנוּ תּוֹלִים שֶׁבִּשְׁבִירַת הָעֲצָמוֹת נִפְגְּמָה; וְכֵן כָּל כַּיּוֹצֵא בָּזֶה, כְּגוֹן שֶׁנָּפְלָה עַל גַּבֵּי קַרְקַע קָשָׁה. וְדַוְקָא שֶׁרָאִינוּ שֶׁנָּפְלָה עַל חֻדָּהּ, אֲבָל מִסְפֵקָא אֵין תּוֹלִין לוֹמַר שֶׁנָּפְלָה עַל חֻדָּהּ, וְאִם שִׁבֵּר בָּהּ עֶצֶם הַמַּפְרֶקֶת, אֲפִלּוּ דֶּרֶךְ שְׁבִירָה, אֵין תּוֹלִין בּוֹ מִפְּנֵי שֶׁהוּא רַךְ

 

Seif 15

 

A slaughter where the knife was checked after a slaughter that broke a bone in an unusual way, (not in the direction of the cut) and if we then check and we find a flaw the slaughter is acceptable because we assume the bone flawed the knife.

For example, like it falling on the hard ground.

 

If we saw it specifically fall its blade (its flawed) however because of this doubt we don’t attribute what is said if it did not fall on the blade. And if a break occurs because of a neck bone, even in the direction that the break occurred, we don’t attribute what occurs before it to it at all, because the neck is soft.
